Out of hours the Emergency Duty Service is 01344 351999, which is actually run from Bracknell on behalf of all six Berkshire councils.

Coming home from hospital

There is no A and E in Bracknell. People go to Frimley Park or Wexham Park, both run by Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, and occasionally to the Royal Berkshire in Reading. It is worth knowing this before you need it.

There is a Bracknell Urgent Care Centre at Brants Bridge for things that are not emergencies. Check the opening hours before setting off, as published times vary between sources.

For the step between hospital and home, Heathlands Intermediate Care Unit at Cross Fell is a twenty bed unit run by Frimley Health, taking people coming out of Frimley Park, Wexham Park and sometimes the Royal Berkshire. It does dementia care and older people's medicine as well as therapy. If a ward mentions Heathlands, that is a good sign. It means somebody has recognised that going straight home would be too big a step.

Bracknell Healthspace at Brants Bridge is where a lot of outpatient appointments happen, with free parking on site.

Age Concern Bracknell Forest is an independent local charity that has been going more than fifty years and receives no national funding. It runs a dementia friendly day centre on weekdays, social groups in Bullbrook and Harmans Water, a carers group in Priestwood, and the Buckler's Park Community Hub.

Age UK Berkshire is a separate, county wide organisation and runs a free Home from Hospital service for Bracknell Forest residents in the weeks after discharge.

For transport, Bracknell Forest Community Transport is booked through The Ark Trust and is a volunteer door to door service for people with no car and no public transport link. It is not a taxi and you need to book ahead. Keep Mobile runs accessible minibuses, and Bracknell Shopmobility in Princess Square lends wheelchairs and scooters for the town centre.
